—FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS—

FAQ

1. Does organic lawn care cost more than conventional lawn care?

We can design a program that works with any budget but the reality is that you get what you pay for in the landscaping business. To use the best products that we have tested over time, bought from known and legit sources, and applied by trained technicians cost more money than your traditional chemical franchises. Also, we pride ourselves on paying our employees respectable wages that allow them to support their families and live in our communities. Additionally, all profits are reinvested into our business to improve our services.

2. How are you different from other companies offering organic lawn services?

First, we have been practicing organic lawn care for over 30 years well before any other company in CT! We have put in the time by attending countless classes and training seminars, and have used literally hundreds of different products to see what works and what doesn’t. Over the past few years many other companies have tried to “cash in” on the organic movement. In most cases they do not use real organic materials, have no formal training or accreditation by CT NOFA, have high customer turnover rates, and don’t always have their client’s families and pets interests in mind. Additionally, many times they don’t know how or when to apply the materials or how to solve landscape issues organically. Most of our clients have been with us for many years and we are happy to provide references to prospective clients upon request.

3. What is your response time if there are issues?

Typically, same day or next day service is always available. One thing that separates us is that we can be reached via phone, text, or email at all hours. Many clients work and don’t get home until late in the evening. If clients contact us after hours they usually receive a response that night or by the following morning. During business hours there is always an owner available to chat.

4. What forms of payment do you accept?

Checks, cash, eft, and credit cards.

5. Do you have flexible payment options?

Yes! We offer pay as your go plans, pay in full with discounts, auto-billing with a CC on file, ACH bank payments, or equal monthly payments spread over the course of the season.

6. Can you provide me with a list of products that you typically use?

Yes! We can provide a list of materials upon request.

7. Are you licensed and insured?

Yes! We are licensed CT HIC contractors, CT DEEP certified pesticide operators, NOFA accredited organic land care professionals, and members are many landscape trade organizations. We are insured and can provide our certificate of insurance upon request.

8. Will you work with my existing landscape contractor?

While we would love to provide all your services we recognize that many clients have relationships with their landscapers that go back many years. In most cases these contractors provide basic “mow and blow” services while Plantscapes handles the technical work. We are happy to work with any contractor and can easily coordinate with your current contractors.

9. How long do I need to stay off my lawn after applications?

CT law states that whether we apply organic or traditional materials we are required to leave a yellow sign that must stay posted at the driveway entrance for 24 hours. In addition to the required yellow sign we leave a white sign next to it notifying the client that the application was organic. In most cases you can be on your lawn after the application but we advise staying off it for a few hours as to not track any odor into your home and to allow any liquids time to dry on the grass. We always follow CT DEEP requirements for posting and notifications.
